Software Engineering

Software engineering is the process of investigating user needs and designing, constructing, and testing end-user applications that will satisfy these needs through the use of software programming languages. It is the application of engineering principles to software development.

It is an engineering branch incidental with the development of software product using well-defined scientific principles, methods, and procedures. The result of software engineering is an efficient and reliable software product.

A software engineer is a person who applies the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of computer software.

Software engineering is a field that is vitally important to computer technology as a whole. Without the software to run the computer hardware, that hardware is simply a clump of plastic, silicon, and metal – perhaps useful as an overpriced paperweight.
