NIMSET 2019: Notification, Exam Date, Pattern, Syllabus, Eligibility CriteriaNizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), also known as Nizam’s Orthopaedic Hospital, is an Institute (and Hospital) established under State Legislature Act in Hyderabad, Telangana. NIMS has been recognized by University Grants Commission and Medical Council of India. The University offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D. and research courses in the field of Medical Sciences. Courses available in Nizam’s Institute is given below:

  • Medical Courses – MD/MS/DNB/MCh/DM
  • Nursing Courses – BSc and MSc
  • Physiotherapy Courses – BPT and MPT
  • Hospital Management – MHM
  • Paramedical Courses – PG Diploma

About NIMS Medical Courses (MD/MS/DNB/MCh/DM):

Admissions:

The admissions to postgraduate medical courses shall be made through NEET-PG 2019 and the University shall not take any separate examination for the admission process. About 50% of seats in PG courses have been allotted to All India Quota for which counseling will be done by DGHS, Government of India based on NEET-PG 2019 Merit.

To apply for the Master’s in Medical courses, candidates can download the application form from the official website of NIMS www.nims.edu.in and send the duly filled form to the address given below:

The hard copy of the application form must be sent with a demand draft of Rs. 1100/- in favor of Director, NIMS or NIMS Cash Receipt.

Eligibility for MD/MS:

  • A candidate should have passed MBBS examination from Medical Colleges recognized by MCI from the state of Telangana.
  • A candidate who is already attending a course in NIMS shall resign from the course to be eligible for MD/MS course.
  • The candidate should have qualified National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-2019 (NEET-PG) conducted by the National Board of Education. The cut-off score of various categories is already decided by the NBE:

About NIMS Nursing Courses (BSc and MSc):

Admissions:

The admissions of the candidates into Bachelor of Science (Nursing) will be based on the merit arrived out of the total marks obtained in the qualifying examination. There will be no entrance test for the admissions into BSc. Admissions into Master of Science (Nursing) shall be done by an entrance examination which will be conducted by the University.

Application form for the admissions in B.Sc. and M.Sc. will be tentatively available in the second week of July 2019. The last date to submit the form will be in the last week of July 2019. The application form can be downloaded from the official website and must be sent to the office of NIMS before the last date.

An application fee has to be paid for the form by demand draft. Rs. 1100/- for M.Sc. application form and Rs. 700/- for B.Sc. application form must be paid in favor of Director, NIMS, Hyderabad.

Eligibility for B.Sc.:

  • A candidate should have passed 10+2 course with Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, and English or Vocational Nursing/MPHW with bridge course of Biological and Physical Sciences or equivalent.
  • The candidate must have secured at least 45% aggregate in the subjects Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English took together.

Eligibility for M.Sc.:

  • A candidate must have done B.Sc. in Life Sciences preferably a degree in Nursing or Human Genetics or Human Biology or Medical Biotechnology or Molecular Biology from a recognized university.
  • He/she must have secured 55% aggregate in the degree to be eligible for M.Sc.
  • The candidate should not have completed 45 years as on 31st December 2019 are eligible to apply. An age relaxation of 3 years has been given to the reserved category students.

Entrance Examination for M.Sc. Admission:

The institute will conduct an entrance examination which will have 60 multiple choice questions. For each correct answer, one marks will be given. Apart from the written examination, there will be an oral assessment/interview for 40 marks. Syllabus of the entrance examination will consist of Life Sciences and Basic Genetics.

The institute will specify the venue, date and time for the examination. Hall tickets will be sent to the candidates through e-mail. The minimum qualifying marks to be eligible for is 50% at the entrance test and also in oral assessment/interview. Request for re-evaluation can be done by a candidate by paying an amount of Rs. 1500/- to the Associate Dean of Nizam’s Institute. Candidates should do this within the prescribed date.

About NIMS Physiotherapy Courses:

Admissions:

The selection of the candidates for the admission into Bachelor of Physiotherapy courses will be based on the merit arrived out of the total marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Admissions into Master of Physiotherapy shall be done by an entrance examination which will be conducted by the University.

Application form for the admission will be available at www.nims.edu.in in the last week of August 2019 and the last date for submission of form will be in the second week of September 2019. A candidate must submit the application form in the form of hard copy to the Institute. A demand draft of Rs. 700/- shall be sent to the address along with the application form. Rs. 1100/- must be paid in the form of demand draft for the MPT application form.

Eligibility for BPT:

  • A candidate should have passed 10+2 standard or its equivalent with optional subjects Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • Or a candidate should have done vocational physiotherapy with bridge course of biological and physical sciences.
  • The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years completed and should not be more than 25 years as on 31st December 2019. 3 years age relaxation has been given to reserved category candidates.

Eligibility for MPT:

  • The candidate should have done Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized university.
  • The candidate should have completed/shall be completing 6 months internship by 30th September 2019 in India or a Foreign University with at least 10+2+4 years of educational pattern and a minimum of 6 months internship.
  • The minimum age of the candidate for admission shall be 22 years completed as on 31st December 2019 and should not be more than 35 years as on 31st December 2019.

Entrance Examination for MPT Admission:

As per the authorities, the entrance examination for the admissions into MPT course will be held in the second week of September 2019. The entrance examination will consist of 60 multiple choice type questions carrying 60 marks. Candidates need to answer the questions in 60 minutes. The paper will be divided into two sections:

  • Specialty MCQs – Questions related to basic and clinical sciences, Biomechanics, Physiotherapy Techniques, Critical Care and Rehabilitation.
  • General MCQs – Questions related to general clinical sciences (general medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, gynecology, sociology, etc)

About NIMS Hospital Management Courses:

Admissions to MHM Course:

The admissions to Master of Hospital Management Courses shall be done by an entrance test organized by the University.

The application process for the admission into the MHM course is the same as discussed before. Candidates must an application fee of Rs. 1100/- in the form of demand draft in favor of Director, NIMS.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A candidate should be a graduate in Medical/Non-medical Courses from a recognized university.
  • The minimum age for admission shall be 20 years completed and should not be more than 30 years as on 31st December 2019.

Entrance Test for MHM Admission:

The question paper will consist of 100 marks. There will be 70 multiple choice type questions and 30 marks will be allotted to the VIVA. The paper will consist of question from the sections given below:

About NIMS PG Diploma Courses:

Admissions:

The candidates will be given admissions to PG courses on the basis of their performance in the entrance examination conducted by the Institute. Application form for the admissions will be available from the last week of August 2019. A demand draft of Rs. 1500/- must be sent with the application form to the Director.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A candidate should have done Masters in any Sciences or Life Sciences, Ayurvedic Medicine, Physiotherapy or MBBS from a recognized university.
  • The minimum age of the candidate for admission shall be 22 years completed as on 31st December 2019 and should not be more than 35 years as on 31st December 2019.

Entrance Examination for PG Diploma Course:

The University will conduct an examination of 50 marks and aptitude interview of 50 marks. To solve the 50 questions, 60 minutes will be given. Questions will be asked from Biochemistry, Genetics, Pharmacy, Physiology, Psychology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, and Bio-statistics.

List of Documents to be submitted with the Application form:

  • Original bank demand draft/NIMS cash receipt.
  • Attested copies of Marksheets and Certificates of class 10th and 12th.
  • Attested copy of migration certificate and provisional certificate.
  • Attested copy of residence proof.
  • Service and No objection certificate.
