LPU NEST 2019: Application Form, Exam Date, Eligibility CriteriaLPU NEST 2019 is basically the entrance examination conducted by Lovely Professional University (LPU) to provide admission opportunities to students in their engineering and management programmes. This is a National Entrance and Scholarship Eligibility Test (NEST). The scholarship is offered to meritorious students in the engineering and management programmes, especially for those who wish to study at LPU but have a shortage of funds backing them up. This examination is conducted for undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. LPU NEST is one of the biggest entrance examinations held in the country – fifth largest to be precise.

LPU NEST 2019 Registration:

The registration for LPU Nest starts from November 2018 and it ends three days before the examination. The registration process is done online through their official website – nest.lpu.in.

 The LPU NEST test registration is done for B.Tech, MBA, Design, Law, Hotel Management, Humanities-Arts, Commerce, Science, Agriculture, Ph.D., and Applied Medical Sciences. In order to register for the LPU NEST examination, important details such as name, phone number, email id and date of birth. After registering, application number and password will be generated.

LPU NEST Application Form Details:

The LPU NEST 2019 Application Form can be filled online as well as offline. For the online method, the applicant has to visit the official site and for the offline method, the applicant can visit the specific centers that provide the form. However, the completed form needs to be submitted at the campus office only.

The Application fee for the LPU NEST 2019 is Rs. 700 (for boys) and  Rs 400 (for girls) and it can be paid online as well as offline.  For the online method, students can use a credit/debit card as well as net banking. For the offline method, a demand draft is to be made in the name of Lovely Professional University – (payable at Jalandhar).

The application fee is the same for all categories of candidates.

The application details differ from course to course and therefore they release information accordingly. Since the information is released on different days for different courses, candidates are to select their preferred course and proceed accordingly.

The application number and password which is generated during registration is needed for future logins. During the filling-up of the application form, candidates also need to give their preferred exam center and online exam slot. They also need to upload scanned copies of their recent passport photograph and signature along with entering the educational qualifications, exam details, etc.

The application form is considered complete only after the payment of the application fee.

LPU NEST Rules and Regulations:

The Scholarship aid is only available for Indian applicants. In case a student is eligible for more than one scholarship or financial aid from other places than LPU, then the student can only opt for one of the aids provided to him/her. Along with the LPU NEST scholarship if a student gets financial aid from the Government or NGO then LPU holds the right to subtract the amount from the total applicable fees, which is being offered from the Government/NGO organization when providing the student with the scholarship.

Scholarship and financial aid are provided to a student during admissions and there are different criteria for students under the scholarship scheme such as on the basis of sport, or marks secured in the qualifying examination or on the basis of the culture of performance. Students are eligible to claim scholarship during filling in of the application form. Students won’t be entertained about scholarship related queries after the last date.

International students can apply for the LPU NEST as well.

LPU NEST Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for different streams is different for a student to be eligible for the LPU NEST examination.

For B.Tech

Candidates must be Indian nationals and must have passed their 10+2 from a recognized board with Physics, Mathematics, and English along with an overall aggregate of 60%.

For Law

For BA.LL.B (Hons), BBA.LL.B (Hons), B.Com LL.B (Hons), students are required to have passed their 10+2 from a recognized board from any stream but with English as the main subject. The age limit for this course is 20 years for general category candidates and 22 years for reserved category candidates. For LL.B, students need to have passed graduation in any stream with 50%. The age limit for LL.B is 30 years for general candidates and 35 years for reserved candidates.

For MBA

Candidates are required to have a 60% and can belong to any stream as long as the graduation degree is from a UGC recognized university.

For all other streams, other than subjects which have specific requirements, the common criteria are to have a score of 50%-60% and the candidate can be from any stream.

LPU NEST Exam Dates:

LPU NEST Exam Pattern:

The common exam pattern will be multiple choice and online based for all streams and time given to solve the paper will be 2 hours and 30 minutes. The mode of language will be in English.

For example, in the B.Tech examination, there will be a total of 110 questions consisting of 410 marks. There will be no negative marking and 4 marks for each correct answer for questions related to Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology, and 2 marks for each correct answer for questions related to English. The number of questions for English will be 20, and 30 each for Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Students need to attempt all the questions.

Similarly, for the MBA examination, there is a total of 100 questions and each question carries 3 marks, thus making the paper of 300 marks. There will be 40 marks worth of English and general aptitude and 20 marks worth of general awareness.

(P.S. – This is the common exam pattern for the LPU NEST examination along with examples of two courses to give a basic idea of what to expect. However, each course and level of degree (whether undergraduate, postgraduate or Ph.D. will have a different pattern which is usually released a few days prior to the examination or during the subject selection. LPU NEST Syllabus:

The Syllabus for LPU NEST 2019 is different for every course and level of degree. What is to be kept in mind is that the questions will all be from the intermediate level.

Questions will mostly be set to test the candidates hold and grasp the particular programme and ability to deal with the subject and also streams common to that subject.

English is mostly a common topic in all LPU NEST examinations.

For example:

In the B.Tech examination, the syllabus will include questions from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics and English.

For MBA, the syllabus will include English, General Aptitude, Current Awareness.

For Law, the syllabus will include English, Quantitative, Logical Aptitude, Legal Reasoning, and General Awareness.

LPU NEST Preparation Tips:

The LPU NEST examination requires certain tips and tricks to make a candidate completely confident before attempting to take the exam.

Certain tips to keep in mind while preparing for the LPU NEST examination are :

  • As we all know, practice makes a man perfect. Therefore, practicing all the topics which are necessary for the examination helps one to not only be confident before taking the examination but also be sure of what to write and why.
  • Time Management. Time management is of utmost importance. The candidate must practice solving sample papers within the given time (2 hours 30 mins) so that he or she can be sure of completing the paper before the clock stops. There is no greater disappointment than an incomplete paper.
  • Since there is no negative marking, it would be best to try and attempt all the questions. You never know when a guesswork might do wonders and you might end up getting marks for a question you had thought you would get a 0 in.
  • LPU NEST allows students to go back to a question to review it. Thus, if the candidate is not sure about a particular answer then it is best to come back and review it and not waste time pondering over it.

How to Crack LPU NEST?

In order to crack the LPU NEST, it is necessary to read the topics which are included in the examination syllabus of the particular course the student is applying for. The candidate should be very confident about his or her approach to the exam and since there is no negative marking, should answer all questions which are given in the question paper. Having a good grasp of English helps too because English is included in the syllabus of all the courses entrance examinations. Reading the instructions which are mentioned on the site during form fill up and during understanding and gathering of further information is necessary as they may have certain specific requirements for specific courses.
