Fire and Safety

Fire and safety is the set of practices intended to minimize the amount of destruction caused by fire. This includes planning and infrastructure design aimed at reducing the risk of fire. In this, the use of fire-resistant building materials, preventative actions, fire safety training, safe work practices, flame-resistant protective clothing, and more are taught.

Fire and Safety Course, Eligibility and their Duration:

A candidate has a number of choices in fire and safety courses. List of few courses are given below:

  • Diploma in Fire and Safety Engineering: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration of the course is one year. A candidate should have passed at least 10th standard examination.
  • Diploma in Industrial Safety: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration of the course is one year. A candidate must have passed 10+2 examination in Science OR two years ITI course or any other equivalent examination.
  • PG Diploma in Fire Safety and Hazards Management: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration of the course is one year. A candidate must have done graduation in any stream from a recognized university.
  • PG Diploma in Health Safety and Environment: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration of the course is one year. A candidate must have passed B.Sc./Diploma/B.E/B.Tech.
  • Advance Diploma in Industrial Safety: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration of the course is one year. A candidate must have passed B.Sc./Diploma/B.E/B.Tech.
  • Advance Diploma in Safety Management: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration of the course is one year. A candidate must have done graduation in any stream from a recognized university.
  • B.Sc. Fire-Safety and Hazard Management: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration of the course is one year. A candidate must have passed the 12th examination in Science or equivalent examination or fire & safety diploma course.
  • MBA Fire and Safety Management: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration, of the course, is one year. A candidate must have done graduation in any stream from a recognized university.
  • B.Tech in Fire: This course is available in both Hindi and English medium. The duration of the course is one year. A candidate must have passed 10+2 examination in Science OR two years ITI course or any other equivalent examination.

List of Entrance Examinations for Different Courses in Fire and Safety:

  • CUSAT (Cochin University Science and Technology) Entrance Examination: A candidate should have passed the senior secondary examination with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry and must have obtained 50% aggregate in Mathematics and 50% in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry combined together. Interested candidates can apply for the examination on the website http://www.cusat.ac.in.
  • UPES (University of Petroleum and Energy Studies) Entrance Examination: The University offers Bachelor degree course in Fire and Safety of four years duration divided into eight semesters. A candidate must have obtained 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination and with subject Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Interested candidates can apply for the entrance examination on the website https://www.upes.ac.in/online-application-form.
  • NFSC (National Fire Service College) All India Entrance Examination: A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination from a recognized board. A candidate must have passed qualifying examination with 45% aggregate in total. A candidate who is interested in the Bachelor in Engineering in Fire & Safety can apply for the admission test on the website http://nfscnagpur.nic.in.
  • KEAM (Kerala Engineering, Architecture, and Medical) Entrance Examination: The University conducts entrance examination every year through which a candidate can get admission in Bachelor of technology in fire services. A candidate must have obtained 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination and with subject Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
