To get admission in the Institute, candidates are required to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by NIPER Institute. The examination is conducted once a year.

NIPER JEE Registration and Application Form Details:

All the interested candidates can apply for the NIPER JEE 2019 through online mode and offline mode as well. The registration process will tentatively start from 13th March 2019, onwards and will continue till 16th April 2019.

For Online Mode:

Interested candidates can apply on the official website After filling in all the details, applicants should submit the form by clicking on the link “Submit”. After submitting all the information, an application fee must be paid through debit card/credit card/net banking. After the successful payment, candidates are required to send the hard copy of the duly filled application form to NIPER Mohali Campus.

For Offline Mode:

The applicants can apply through offline mode. A candidate should send a Demand Draft of given amount along with “Request Application”. After filling in the application form, applicants should send the format below address:

  • For M.S.(Pharm.)/M.Pharm./M.Tech.(Pharm):

NIPER JEE Eligibility Criteria:

For Master’s Course:

  • The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination with a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST category) marks in aggregate or CGPA 6.75 (5.75 for SC/ST category) on a 10 point scale from a recognized university. For Physically Handicapped candidates, a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is required.
  • The candidate should have done B.Pharm./M.Sc. (Biological Sciences) or M.V.Sc. (Organic/Analytical Chemistry/Life Sciences/Botany) or B.Tech. (Chemical Engineering) or equivalent or B.V.Sc. or MBBS or BVMS course.

For Ph.D. Pharmacy Course:

  • The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination with a minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST category) marks in aggregate or CGPA 6.75 (5.75 for SC/ST category) on a 10 point scale from a recognized university. For Physically Handicapped candidates, a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is required.
  • The candidate should have done M.S. (Pharm.)/M.Pharm./M.Tech. (Pharm) from a recognized university.

NIPER JEE Exam Pattern:

The examination will be a pen-paper based test. The question paper will consist of multiple choice type objective questions. There will be 200 questions and the duration of the examination will be two hours. The medium of the question paper will be English. For each correct answer, 1 mark will be given. There will be negative marking. For each wrong attempt, 0.25 mark will be deducted. Candidates will be required to mark their answers on OMR sheets.

NIPER JEE Exam Syllabus:

NIPER JEE doesn’t have a prescribed syllabus. There will be a common paper for all Masters Programs including MBA. The syllabus is almost the same as that of GATE. The level of questions will be of B.Pharm. and M.Sc. in the relevant field. But the main topics in syllabus covers Chemistry as a major topic. Given below is the list of few topics:

Natural Products:

Secondary Metabolites, Phytochemistry, Methods of Extraction, Isolation, and Characterisation of Natural Products, Biosynthetic Pathways, Important Therapeutic Classes, Primary Metabolites, Marine Natural Products, Plant Growth Regulators, Spectroscopy, and Dietary Antioxidants.


Pharmacology and Toxicology, Evaluation of Formulation, Principles, and Methods of Release Control in Oral Formulations, Bioavailability, Bioequivalence Studies, Compartmental Modelling, Packaging, Dosage Forms, Additives of Formulation, Types, Examples, Advantages, Disadvantages, Drug Excipient Interaction, Incompatibility, and Various Types of Incompatibilities, Standardisation of Natural Products, Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacokinetics, Drug Metabolism, Viscosity Measurements, Pharmacological Screening, and Drug Targeting.

Pharmaceutical Analysis:

Stability Testing of Pharmaceuticals, Various Stability Tests, Solubility, Transdermal Drug Delivery Systems, Osmolality, Spectroscopic Methods, Electrophoresis, Fluorimetry, Chromatography, Polymorphism, Preformulation, and Dosage Forms.

Biotechnology and Biochemistry:

Pharmaceutical Technology, Genetic Engineering, Blotting Techniques, Gene Cloning, RNA Synthesis, DNA Synthesis, rDNA Technology.

Gene Expression:

Mutation, Replication, Transcription, and Recombination.

Cloning: Fermentation, and Methods, Isolation of Nucleic Acids, and Enzymes in Cloning.


Basic Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry Stereochemistry, Osazone Test, Mutarotation, IUPAC Nomenclature, Hybridization, Spectrochemistry, Huckle’s Rule, and Aromaticity.


Bioavailability, Bioassay Methods, Chemotherapy, Pathophysiology, Various Types of Diseases, and Drug Metabolism.


Methods of Extraction, Isolation, and Characterisation of Natural Products, Various Separation Techniques, Biosynthetic Pathways, Primary Metabolites, Fischer Projection Formulas, and Standardization of Natural Products.

NIPER JEE 2019 Exam Dates:

The authority will release the admit card in the second week of June 2019. The admit card can only be downloaded from the portal after logging into using the same Application ID and password. Admit card will not be sent by post/courier. The examination will be held tentatively in the second week of June 2019.

The result of the written examination will be declared within ten days of the examination on the official website of NIPER. The result will be uploaded in pdf format and will consist of Application Number of the Candidate, Rank Secured and the Category of the Candidate. The shortlisted candidates will be called for group discussion round and interview round in the month of July 2019.

Admission to few courses like MBA (Pharm.) will be given on the basis of marks scored in the written examination and group discussion/interview. Weightage given for entrance examination and group discussion & interview shall be in the proportion of 85:15.
