The admission process of different courses is different. Admission to most of the courses is given on the basis of marks scored in the entrance examination. There are some undergraduate programs which allow admission on the basis of merit obtained in 12th examination. For such courses, there will be no admission test. For other programs like a postgraduate diploma, etc, the admission will be given on the basis of candidate’s performance in the written examination and interview as well.
Delhi University Registration and Application Form Details:
The candidates who want to get admission in Delhi University can apply through online mode and offline mode as well. The application process will tentatively start from the second week of May 2019. The registration window will be kept open till the first week of June 2019.
All the interested candidates seeking admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate courses are required to register online on the Website of Delhi University http://admission.du.ac.in. There is a common web portal for the centralized registration of applicants and a common registration form for admission to all the PG/Master’s Courses in the University.
As a first time user, the applicant shall create the login details by clicking on the “Register” Tab or “New User Registration” button. The applicant shall carefully enter the e-mail id and a mobile number. These would be used for communication with the University for admission purposes.
Documents Required While Filling The Form:
- Passport Size Photograph of The Applicant
- Scanned Signature of The Applicant
- Self-Attested Copy of Identity Proof of The Applicant
- Self-Attested Copy of Class 10th Certificate
- Self-Attested Copy of Caste/Reservation Certificate
After filling all the details, candidates shall have to pay a registration fee for the examination. The fee can be paid through online mode. The registration fee for different courses is different and given as below:
- The registration fee for Undergraduate Programmes (Merit-based):
- For UR/OBC: Rs. 150/-
- For SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 75/-
- For Sports (Each Category): Rs. 100/- (Additional Fee)
- For ECA (Each Category): Rs. 100/- (Additional Fee)
- The registration fee for undergraduate programmes (Entrance-based):
- For UR/OBC: Rs. 500/-
- For SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 250/-
- The registration fee for postgraduate programmes:
- For UR/OBC: Rs. 500/-
- For SC/ST/PWD: Rs. 250/-
Note: – After filling all the mandatory details in the application form, the applicant must submit the form and take a printout of the same.
Delhi University Eligibility Criteria:
The eligibility criteria for different courses is different. But there is no minimum age bar for admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the University and its colleges.
Minimum educational criteria for undergraduate programs is given below:
For B.A., B.A. (Vocational Studies): An aggregate of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
For B.A. (Hons.): Except in Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit, Persian, Punjabi & Urdu: An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
For B.A. (Hons.) in Arabic, Bengali, Hindi, Sanskrit, Persian, Punjabi & Urdu: An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination. Applicants securing 40% marks in the aggregate and 50% marks in the subject concerned are also eligible.
For B.Voc.: An aggregate of 40% marks in 10+2 or equivalent examination.
For B.Com. (Hons.): An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination with Mathematics/Business Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
For B.Com.: An aggregate of 45% marks in the qualifying examination.
For B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science: A candidate should have secured 60% or more marks in Mathematics and 60% or more marks in aggregate of four subjects including Mathematics, one language and other two subjects listed as academic subjects.
For B.Sc. in Science: A candidate should have done 10+2 with science stream and should have obtained 55% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology together.
For B.Sc. (Physical Science): A candidate should have obtained 45% or more marks in the aggregate of three subjects (Physics, Chemistry/Computer Science, Mathematics) and should have passed in the English language.
For B.Sc. (Home Science): Candidate should have obtained 50% marks in aggregate of any of the subjects Physics/Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology.
For B.Tech: An aggregate of 60% marks in all subjects including Mathematics in the qualifying examination.
For B.El.Ed.: An aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying examinations as well as 50% marks in each of the four subjects.
Minimum educational criteria for postgraduate programs are given below:
For M.A.: A candidate should have done B.A. (Hons.)/B.A. (Pass) and should have obtained 60% aggregate or above in Psychology.
For M.A. (English): A candidate should have done B.A. or any other equivalent Bachelor’s degree with at least 45% for General Category and 40.5% for reserved category.
For M.Ed.: A candidate should have done B.Ed. or any other equivalent Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field with at least 50% aggregate in total.
For M.Sc.: A candidate should have done B.Sc. in the relevant field from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% in total.
Delhi University Examination Pattern:
The examination paper will be different for different courses. The entrance examination will consist of multiple choice type objective questions. There will be 100 questions in total. The duration of the examination will be two hours. For each question, 4 marks will be given. There will be negative marking. For each wrong attempt, one mark will be deducted. Given below are the brief description of examination pattern for courses:
For B.Tech: The question paper will be divided into three sections- Mathematics, Reasoning, and Analytical Abilities.
For B.A. Honours: The question paper will be divided into sections- General Awareness, Current Affairs, General Knowledge, Communication Skills (English/Hindi), Logical Reasoning, and Analytical Reasoning.
For B.El.Ed.: The question paper will be based on the 10th level and will consist of questions from English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.
For B.Sc. (Physical Education): The examination for this course will be divided into the following sections:
- Entrance Test: 50%
- Physical Fitness Test: 20%
- Sports Proficiency: 30%
For B.A. in Multimedia and Mass Communication: The question paper will consist of questions from General Awareness, Media Awareness, Current Affairs, English Comprehension, Grammatical and Analytical Skills.
For the 5-year Integrated Course in Journalism: The question paper will contain questions from General Awareness, Media Awareness, Current Affairs, English Comprehension, Grammatical and Analytical Skills, Logical Reasoning, and Basic Mathematical Skills.
For B.Ed. (Special Education): The structure of question paper for this course is given below:

Delhi University Admissions Exam Dates:
The examination authority will release the admit card in the first week of June 2019. The examination will be conducted in the third week of June 2019. For the latest updates, candidates should check the website regularly. The result will be declared in the first week of July 2019.
