The main focus of the university is, on the development of higher education with particular emphasis on post-graduate studies and research in applied science, technology, industry and commerce.

CUSAT M.Tech 2019 Registration Process:

STEP 1 – Visit the official website of CUSAT i.e., www.cusat.ac.in.

STEP 2 – Registration: The first time users should proceed with registration by clicking on “Apply Now”.

After registration, an email and SMS will be sent to the candidates’ registered mobile number and email Id with a One Time Password (OTP) for verification.

Note down the application number and password for future use.

The candidates are required to fill in the following details for registration:

  • Name (as in 10th standard certificate)
  • Date of Birth
  • Age (as on January 1, 2019)
  • Email ID
  • Mobile Number

STEP 3 – Fill the application form carefully. The application form details are mentioned in the next section.

STEP 4 – Review your application form and go ahead and submit it.

STEP 5 – Upload the required images in the specified format:

The photograph should be colored and recently taken. The name of the candidate and date must be printed at the bottom with black paint on a white background.

·      The size of the file must be between 4KB to 100KB.

·      The dimensions must be 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm.

·      It should not exceed 132 pixels x 170 pixels.

·      The file should be in JPEG format.

Signature

The signature should be on a white paper with a black pen.

·      The size of the file must be between 1KB to 30KB.

·      The dimensions must be 3.5 cm x 1.5 cm.

·      It should not exceed 132 pixels x 57 pixels.

·      The file should be in JPEG format.

STEP 6 – Payment of application fee:

  • Offline Mode– The candidates are required to download the challan and make the payment in cash at their nearest SBT/SBI Bank.
  • Online Mode – Select the payment mode, i.e., net banking, credit card or debit card and after carefully submitting the details, make the payment.

CUSAT M.Tech Rules and Regulations:

The rules mentioned in this section are exactly as per the guidelines of CUSAT.

  1. Applicants will be ranked on the basis of their GATE Score. Only in the absence of a sufficient number of GATE qualified candidates, candidates without GATE Score will be considered for admission on the basis of Score obtained in the Test (DAT) conducted by the Department concerned.
  2. For all Part Time M.Tech Programmes, Departmental Admission Tests (DAT) shall be conducted and the rank lists will be prepared on the basis of the score obtained in respective DAT.
  3. Tie-breaking criteria: In the case of admission to M.Tech Programmes, wherever there is a tie in the GATE Score/DAT Score, the marks obtained in the qualifying examination will be considered as a tiebreaker. If the final results of the qualifying examination are not published the available marks will be considered for tie-breaking purpose. If the tie continues, date of birth (in descending order) and name (in alphabetical order) will be considered in the respective order for breaking the tie.
  4. 5% marks relaxation: Candidates with a valid GATE Score in the concerned subject are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum marks required for qualifying examination.

Ø Candidates who have passed sections A and B examinations in respective/allied branches conducted by the Institution of Engineer’s (India), Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers and Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers are also eligible for admission if they have an Engineering Diploma or a basic degree in Science.

Ø Should have a minimum of 2 years experience in the concerned field after acquiring a qualifying degree. This may be relaxed if a sufficient number of candidates with the minimum prescribed experience is not available.

Ø Open seats will be allotted on the basis of the score in Departmental Admission Test, marks obtained in the qualifying examination and experience.

2. M. Tech Chemical Engineering

(Part-time)

Engineering with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering

Ø Shall have passed B.Tech/B.E/B.Sc Engineering Degree Examination in Civil Engineering branch from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other  University /Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 60% marks.

Ø Candidates who have passed Sections A & B  examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) – AMIE in Civil branch shall be eligible

Ø Valid GATE Score.

6. M. Tech Mechanical Engineering with specialization in Thermal Engineering Ø Shall have passed B.Tech/B.E/ B.Sc Engineering Degree Examination in the Mechanical branch from any University in Kerala or an examination of any other University /institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 60% marks.

Ø Candidates who have passed sections A and B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) – AMIE in Mechanical branch shall be eligible

Ø A valid GATE score in Mechanical Engineering.

Ø In the absence of GATE qualified candidates, non GATE candidates will be considered on the basis of the Department Admission Test (DAT)

7. M.Tech Marine Biotechnology

(offered at National Centre for Aquatic Animal Health)

(sponsored by Department of Bio-Technology, Government of India)

Ø B.Tech/BE in chemical Engineering., Bio-Chemical Engineering., Industrial Biotechnology, Leather Biotechnology, Chemistry/Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, B.Pharm, Chemical Technology.

Or

Ø MSc. in Biotechnology, Marine Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Botany/ Zoology/ Biochemistry, Microbiology/ Genetics, Biophysics, Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics, Marine Biology/ Aquatic Biology and Fisheries/ Environmental Biotechnology/ Mariculture with 60% marks

Or

Ø Equivalent CGPA from any recognized Indian or foreign University

Ø (The selected candidates will be receiving a monthly stipend of Rs.8000/-)

8. M. Tech  Atmospheric Science Ø M.Sc degree or its equivalent in Meteorology/Oceanography/ Mathematics/Physics/Space Physics with a first class (60% marks) from any recognized University or Institution.

Ø A valid GATE score or a pass in the Joint UGC – CSIR Test (NET) for JRF

9. M. Tech. Ocean Technology Ø M.Sc. degree in Oceanography/ Physics / Marine Geology / Meteorology / Marine Geophysics / Environmental Sciences or M.Sc. (Tech) Degree in Marine Geophysics

Ø B.Tech or equivalent degree/AMIE in Civil Engineering/ Environmental Sciences with 60% marks from any recognized University or Institution.

Ø A valid GATE score with any of the subjects mentioned above as the second paper

10. M. Tech. Industrial Catalysis Ø M.Sc. degree in (Chemistry / Applied Chemistry) or any other degree recognized as equivalent with at least a first class (60% marks) from any recognized University or institution with a valid GATE score.
11. M.Tech. Engineering Statistics Ø B.Tech or equivalent degree or AMIE in any discipline or AMII with a first class (60%) from any recognized University or institution with valid GATE score.
12. M. Tech. Electronics (with specialization in  Digital Electronics, Microwave & Radar Electronics) Ø B.Tech or equivalent degree /AMIE/ AMIETE in Electronics and Communication Engineering/Electrical Engineering / Electronics and Instrumentation or M.Sc. degree in    Electronics /Physics (with Electronics as specialization) with a First Class (60%) from any recognized  University or Institution.

Ø A valid GATE score in Electronics/Electronics and Communication Engg.

Ø If sufficient numbers of candidates are not available in the category (ii) above, candidates with GATE score in Electrical & Electronics Engg., Instrumentation,  Electrical Engg. or Physics will be considered.

Ø In the absence of GATE qualified candidates Non-GATE candidates can be admitted on the basis of a Departmental Admission Test (DAT)

13. M. Tech.  Polymer

Technology

Ø B. Tech or equivalent degree / AMIE in Polymer Science and Rubber Technology/ Chemical Engg. / Technology or M.Sc. Polymer Chemistry/M.Sc. Chemistry with Polymer Chemistry specialization with a First Class (60% marks) from any recognized University or Institution.

Ø A valid GATE score

14. M. Tech. Computer  Aided Structural Analysis & Design Ø B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Naval Architecture and Ship Building/ Civil Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution.

Ø A valid GATE score.

15. M. Tech.  Opto-Electronics and Laser  Technology Ø Master’s degree in Physics / Electronics/Photonics or B.Tech /B.E Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics with a first class (60%) from any recognized University or institution

Ø A valid GATE score (in the concerned branch of study)

Ø If sufficient numbers of a candidate with GATE score in the concerned branch of study are not available, candidates with GATE score in Instrumentation will be considered.  If sufficient numbers of GATE score holders are not available a pass in DAT is sufficient.

16. M. Tech. Computer and Information Science Ø B.Tech or equivalent degree or AMIE/AMIETE in Computer Science/Information Technology or M.Sc. in Computer Software/Operational Research and Computer Applications or M.C.A. with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution.

Ø A valid GATE score.

17. M. Tech. Software Engineering. Ø B.Tech or equivalent degree or AMIE/ AMIETE in Computer Science/ Information Technology or M.Sc. in Computer Software/ Operational Research and Computer Applications or M.C.A. with a first class (60%) marks from any recognized University or Institution.

Ø A valid GATE score.

18. M.Tech Computer Science with Specialization in Embedded Systems (Part-Time) Ø First Class B.Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering / Electronics Engg. / Information Technology / Electrical Engg. or equivalent branches or M.C.A with 60% marks or equivalent CGPA

Ø Minimum of 1-year experience in Industry / University / Institution recognized by appropriate statutory bodies.

19. M. Tech. Electronics & Communication Engineering with Specialization in Wireless Technology Ø Shall have passed B.Tech/ BE /BSc Engineering Degrees in Electronics or Electrical and Electronics or Electronics & Communication branch from the any University of Kerala or an Examination of any other University/Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 60% marks

Ø A valid GATE score.

Ø In the absence of sufficient numbers of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered subject to passing an Admission Test conducted by the University.

20. M-Tech  Information Technology

with specialization in Software Systems

Ø Shall have passed B.Tech/ BE/ BSc Engineering Degrees in Information Technology/ Computer Science & Engg./ Computer Engineering/ Biomedical Engg/ Electronics & Communication/ Electronics/ Electrical & Electronics branch from any University of Kerala or an Examination of any other University/ Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in 10 –point scale.

Ø A valid GATE Score.

Ø In the absence of GATE qualified candidates non GATE candidates will be considered for admission on the basis of the Department Admission Test (DAT).

21. M.Tech. Marine Engineering Ø A. Shall have passed B.Tech /B.E/B.S degree in Marine Engineering OR B.Tech/ B.Sc (Engg) degree in Mechanical Engineering OR B.Tech degree in Naval Architecture & Ship Building with a minimum of 60% marks or an examination of any other University /Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto with 60% marks.

Ø Preference will be given to those who have passed M.E.O class IV examination or a minimum of 2 years professional experience in shipbuilding /ship repair yard /ship design office/Indian navy.

22. MTech Health, Safety, and Environment Management Ø Shall have passed BTech/BE/BSc Engineering Degree Examination in Chemical/ Civil/ Mechanical/Safety & Fire Engineering branches with a minimum of 60% marks from the any University of Kerala or an examination of any other University/ Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto.

Ø Candidates who have passed Sections A & B examinations conducted by the Institution of Engineers (India) – AMIE in Chemical /Civil/Mechanical branches or Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers – AMICHE shall also be eligible.

Ø A valid GATE score.

Ø In the absence of a sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, candidates without GATE score shall also be considered subject to passing the Departmental Admission Test.

23. MTech Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Network Computing Ø BTech or equivalent Degree/AMIETE/ AMIE in Computer Science and Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronics and Communication Engineering with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in 10 point scale from any recognized University in Kerala or any other University/Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto.

Ø A valid GATE score.

Ø In the absence of a sufficient number of candidates with GATE score, a candidate without GATE score shall also be considered based on the performance in the Departmental Admission Test (DAT).

CUSAT M.Tech Exam Pattern:

  1. Mode of examination: Online.
  2. Number of papers: 2
  3. Type of questions: Multiple choice questions.
  4. The medium of examination: English Medium.
  5. Marking scheme: 3 marks are awarded for each correct answer.
  6. Negative marking: 1 mark is deducted from the total score for every wrong answer.
  7. Duration of examination: 3 hours or 180 minutes.
