CUSAT CAT 2019: Application Form, Exam Center, Eligibility, Exam DateCochin University of Science and Technology is one of the government-owned Science and Technology Universities in Kochi, India. It was founded in 10th July 1971 and established as University of Cochin through an act of the Government of Kerala. It was re-established as Cochin University of Science and Technology in 1986. The university grants admissions to the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses in different specializations. This university is divided into three campuses- two in Cochin and one in Alappuzha.

About CUSAT CAT 2019:

Cochin University of Science and Technology Common Admission Test is a University level examination conducted by CUSAT for admissions in various programmes. By giving CUSAT, a candidate can get admission to the below specializations:

  • Science and Technology
  • Engineering

  • Medical Sciences and Technology, and
  • Social Sciences

CUSAT CAT 2019 Registration:

CUSAT will release the notification in the first week of February 2019. Candidates shall be able to register for the Common Admission Test through the online mode on the official website of CUSAT http://www.cusat.ac.in. For registration, candidates will have to click on the “New Registration” button and enter their name, date of birth and age. a valid e-mail id, and a mobile number. All communication to the candidate will be done by the given mail id and mobile number.

CUSAT CAT 2019 Application Form:

All the candidates are advised to read the information brochure before applying for the examination. Candidates will be able to fill the form from the first week of February 2019 tentatively. All the aspirants should fill them before the last date otherwise they will have to pay a late fee for the examination form. The last date to fill the application form without the late fee will be the last week of February 2019.  After this, candidates shall have to apply with a late until the second week of March 2019.

Note: Candidates can apply for the examination through the online mode. No hard copies shall be sent to the University.

After registration, an SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number and e-mail id of the candidate. Candidates will be able to login to the website through the one time password. All the candidates shall change their password immediately. Without doing this, they will not be allowed to proceed further.

After this, candidates will be asked to pay an application fee for the examination. Payment can be done by online mode only. Debit card/credit card/net-banking can be used for paying the fee.

Note: If a candidate does not get confirmation mail of payment within three working days, then he/she should report this issue by mail to cusathelpdesk@gmail.com with all the details of payment.

All the candidates shall fill in the details correctly. After paying the fee and submission of application form, no applicant can edit the details again.

CUSAT CAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria:

For Undergraduate Courses:

  • For B.Tech programmes, candidates should have passed in 10+2 from Kerala state board or any other recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks and optional subjects as Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • For B.Tech in Marine Engineering, candidates should have passed in 10+2 from Kerala state board or any other recognized board with optional subjects as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and English as separate subjects. He/she should have a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM and 50% aggregate marks in Mathematics, as well as in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry together.
  • For B.Tech in Naval Engineering, candidates should have passed in 10+2 from Kerala state board or any other recognized board with optional subjects as Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. He/she should have a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM and 50% marks in Mathematics alone.
  • For B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering, candidates should have passed in 10+2 from Kerala state board or any other recognized board with optional subjects as Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. He/she should have a minimum of 60% aggregate in PCM and 55% marks in Mathematics alone.
  • For all the undergraduate program except three year LLB programme, the candidate who has completed 10+2 from a recognized board are eligible to apply. For three year LLB programme, a candidate should be a graduate from a recognized university.
  • Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe are eligible to apply if they have minimum marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates who have done Diploma are not eligible for this examination.
  • A candidate should not exceed the maximum age limit for this examination which is 25 years.

For Postgraduate Courses:

  • For MCA, a candidate should be a graduate in Electronics/Computer Science/Information Technology/Computer Applications with a minimum of 55% aggregate and with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
  • For LLM, a candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in law with a minimum of 45% aggregate.
  • For M.Tech programmes, a candidate should have a valid Gate score.

CUSAT CAT 2019 Exam Dates:

CUSAT will release admit card through online mode. Tentatively, admit card will be available from the third week of April 2019. All the aspirants should regularly check the website for updates. The examination will be held in the last week of April 2019 as per the authorities. All the candidates are advised to download the admit card. Without it, they will not be allowed inside the examination hall.

CUSAT will upload the answer key on their official website in the first week of May 2019. Results will be declared in the third week of May 2019. After this, shortlisted candidates will be called for counseling and document verification.

CUSAT CAT 2019 Exam Pattern:

As CUSAT grants various courses. Therefore, the exam pattern is different for different specializations. CUSAT CAT 2019 will be divided into various code exams:

For Undergraduate Programmes:

  • Test Code 1 for B.Tech Programmes: The question paper will be based on 10+2 level. There will be 250 objective type multiple choice questions and total marks will be 750 marks. For each correct answer, three marks will be awarded. There will be negative marking. One marks will be deducted if answered wrong.

The duration of the test will be three hours. To qualify for the rank list, a candidate should score a minimum of 10 marks in each section. This rule does not apply for the Kerala Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe. CUSAT calculates the score of a CAT on the basis of the formula: S=3R-1W, where R is a number of correct answers and W is the number of wrong answers.

  • Test Code 2 for B.Tech lateral programme: The question paper will consist of 200 objective multiple choice type questions. The test will be of 3 hours duration and the total marks will be 600.

  • Test Code 3 for BVoc Business Process and Data Analytics: The test will consist of 150 objective multiple choice type questions. Duration of the test will be three hours.
