Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA)
Bachelor of Computer Application is an undergraduate level degree course in Computer Applications. It is one of the favorable courses among the students who want to be employed in the Information Technology field. With the expeditious growth of the IT industry, the clamor of computer professionals is increasing with each passing day. This rise in society has created a lot of latitudes for Computer Graduates.
BCA course focuses on preparing students for roles pertaining to Computer Applications and IT industry and helps a student develop programming skills, networking skills and learn application packages, programming languages and modern techniques of Information technology.
The study period of BCA includes various subjects such as programming, networking, data structure, database management, Mathematics, software engineering, object-oriented programming using C++, visual basic, web scripting, and development, etc.
The BCA course provides sound practical skills directing troubles which emerges from Computer system and applications.
Bachelor in Computer Application course is open for students who have qualified higher secondary examination with a minimum of 45% marks.

A student must fulfill the basic eligibility criteria to get admission to BCA course. Admission to regular BCA course is generally done through a common entrance test conducted by respective universities. IPU-CET, SET is a few entrance tests conducted by some top institutes for providing admission to the course.
The application process for the BCA entrance test usually starts in the month of May and June. Students have to apply to respective institutes as per their preference in both online as well as offline modes.
There are certain colleges which take admission purely on the basis of marks scored in the 10+2 examination.

The BCA is an undergraduate degree course in computer applications duration is 3 years with 6 semesters with miscellaneous subjects based on thesis and research work according to the schedule of the particular University.
The quality marks would be applicable on the basis of Specialization courses. The semesters consist of theoretical and practical version.
- The candidate should be a citizen of India.
- Bachelor of Computer Science requires a candidate to have passed Higher Secondary Examination from any stream with English as passing subject with minimum 45% marks at 12th standard.
- The minimum age to join this course is 18 years. There is no upper age limit for the course specification.
- 10+2 Science stream students with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects, who have passed board examination from a recognized board, are eligible to pursue this course.
The Entrance exam pattern of BCA –
The exam will be conducted in both online and offline mode, the candidates need to complete the examination in 2 hours duration. The question will be objective type (MCQs) based on the following subjects –
English Language – 40 questions
Reasoning and general intelligence – 30 questions
Numerical and data analysis – 30 questions
General knowledge – 30 questions.
There will be a total of 130 questions and the candidates must answer each question carefully as there will be negative marking.
The course Examination is conducted in six parts named as semesters. Each year comprises of two semesters, so for 3 years, 6 semesters are there.
