About Computer Hardware Networking
Computer Hardware is basically a combination of the physical components and aspects which make up a computer system. Physical components include the keyboard, mouse, monitor, hard drive, RAM, motherboard and the like. Networking is a field of studying computer science which allows the exchange of data and information between computers. This data can be exchanged through the use of a media cable or through wireless media.
Courses for Computer Hardware and Networking are available at the certificate degree level, diploma level as well as in the Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Candidates who have a knack in the same can pursue it post their class 12 boards. Certificate courses in networking include LINUX (which is popular in LAN networking administration). CISCO certificates in CCNA, CCNP and CCIE are available too. For diploma courses, there are options in Computer Hardware Maintenance, Advanced Diploma in Computer Hardware Maintenance and Networking, Diploma in Computer Hardware and Networking as well as Diploma in Computer Networking Technology.
For courses available under Bachelor’s there is the BCA programme in hardware and Networking. A similar course is available under a B.Sc degree too. Candidates can get an M.Tech in Network Engineering or M.Sc in Hardware and Networking and can also opt for a Postgraduate Diploma programme in Hardware and Networking. A candidate can pursue a career in Computer Hardware and Networking after getting a B.E or B.Tech degree as well.
The duration of the courses ranges from a few months (for the certificate and diploma programmes) up to three years for the Bachelor’s programme and 2 years for the Master’s programme.
Candidates who are willing to enroll themselves in the certificate and diploma programmes must have passed their 10+2 secondary examinations with the PCM group. There are a few institutes which organize entrance examinations of their own to provide admission to their Bachelor’s – B.tech programme. Candidates who wish to study further can do so by getting an M.Tech in order to gain more experience in the field. Admission to the M.Tech programmes is conducted through Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE). Candidates can also apply through IITJAM and IIST.
For the Diploma and Certificate programmes, the candidate should have passed their 10+2 secondary examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as individual subjects. For the Master’s programmes, the candidate should possess a B.Tech.
The examinations are usually conducted every semester and cover all that is studied in that particular semester. The diploma courses and certificate courses have a single examination in order for the candidate to be awarded the diploma/certificate. There are written examinations as well as practical examinations involved.
