CAT is one of the most prestigious management entrance exams, the entrance to 20 IIMs and more than 100 other top business schools that include FMS, MDI, JBIMS, DMS, IIT Delhi and SPJIMR, among others. CAT 2018 will be conducted by IIM Calcutta on November 25th, 2018, a Sunday. Professor Sumanta Basu is the convener of CAT 2018. The examination is a Computer-Based Test, as stated by IIM-Calcutta and will be conducted across the country through approximately 140 centers.

The registration is expected to commence from July end or the beginning of August 2018. The registration shall take place on the official website, https://iimcat.ac.in. The exam pattern and the syllabus will be in accordance to the past trends, mentioned guidelines and the concerned institutes’ procedures. The results of the examination shall be released in the first-second week of January.

Each year, about 2 lakh candidates appear for the examinations for admissions to premier management colleges in the country. Aspirants should start strategizing and preparing for the esteemed examination. CAT 2018’s official notifications shall be released soon.

To register for the examination, candidates have to visit the official website of CAT registrations, https://iimcat.ac.in. The registration and application process takes place online and there is no offline procedure for the same. The online registration will open up in the first week of August (the exact date will be notified soon).

STEP BY STEP APPLICATION GUIDE

Register: Candidates need to click on the ‘REGISTER NOW’ tab on the official website and by entering Personal Details will generate login credentials.

Verification: CAT User ID/ Serial Number will be sent to the provided e-mail and a phone number verification shall also take place.

Login: Using the login credentials generated, candidates must log in to the fill the application and complete the process.



DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

  • Mark sheet of Class X
  • Mark sheet of Class XII
  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent higher education degree
  • Scanned images of passport size photograph and signatures (not older than 6 months prior and with white background).
  • SC/ST/NC-OBC candidates need to upload the relevant certificate.
  • PwD category applicants need to upload the relevant PwD certificate.
  • Candidates must declare and maintain the following throughout the selection process: Valid and unique Email ID and a mobile phone number.

For Unreserved Students: Rs. 1800/-
For Reserved Students: Rs. 900/-
The payment will be made online. Use a valid Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking.

Candidates can register for the examination on the official website, https://iimcat.ac.in, from the first-second week of August 2018. In the third week of September 2018, a correction window shall open up for candidates who want to change/correct the information provided.

In case, one needs to edit some information provided, one can do so by opening the application on the official website using the unique login credentials generated and edit the said information. These changes can only be made online. After the completion of the duration of the correction window, no further corrections in the application will be entertained.

However, certain particulars cannot be edited. These are as follows:

  • Candidate’s Full Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Mobile Number
  • Email ID
  • State

Candidates should fill the form very carefully and attentively and should take a print out of the same.



CAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility criteria for the exam is as follows:

  • An aggregate of 50% marks or an equivalent GPA in a recognized Bachelor’s degree.
  • Reserved candidates (SC/ST/PWD/DA/NC-OBC) need 45% aggregate or an equivalent GPA in a recognized Bachelor’s degree.

(The percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree.)

  • Students in their final year of Graduation are also eligible.

(If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if she/he submits a certificate by a stipulated date from the Principal/Registrar of her/his College/Institute, stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.)

  • Candidates must declare and maintain a valid and unique email account and a phone number throughout the selection process.

IIM Calcutta is conducting the exam this year on November 25th, 2018.

As stated by an IIM, CAT is a digital or a Computer Based Test (CBT); not an Internet-Based Test (IBT); that is, a candidate will not take the exam on an internet site. Instead of reading the questions in a paper booklet and darkening the ovals on the answer-sheet, a candidate will read the questions on a computer terminal and choose an answer by clicking on the correct option. Therefore, even though the CAT is a digital test, it is not an online exam.

  • The question paper is divided into 3 sections.

  • The duration of the examination is 3 hours, each section is ideally give 60 minutes (1 hour).
